The municipality of Aldenhoven, with over 14,000 inhabitants, lies in the triangle formed by the economic regions Aachen, Cologne and Düsseldorf in the immediate vicinity of the A44 and A4 freeways, as well as the Blausteinsee recreational area. Documentary evidence of A. dates back to the year 922, and today the Old Tower and Engelsdorf Castle still bear witness to the cultural value of the municipality.
